Hydrodynamic folding cleaning of plate heat exchangers
Plate heat exchange equipment is a device in which energy from a heat carrier with a high temperature is transferred to a heated (initially cold) medium by passing corrugated plates through bundles of plate. In this case, the layers with low and high temperatures are alternately arranged, while steel, copper, graphite, or titanium can serve as a material for the plates.
Such heat exchangers are representative of the class of recuperative units and are devices with a heat exchange surface consisting of a set of stamped plates of corrugated configuration. Channels are formed between the plates joined into single packages, through which the movement of heat transfer media transferring thermal energy takes place. Channels through which heat carriers with different temperatures flow alternate.

In each package all the plates are of the same type. When assembling the package, a rule is observed in which the plates are rotated relative to one another by 180 degrees. With such a mutual arrangement during the contraction of the plates into packages, channels are formed that are intended for the flow of liquids participating in the heat exchange process. In addition, uniform grids are created in which the mutual points of the supports of the peaks of the corrugations intersect, which increases the rigidity of the packages as a whole. And, as already mentioned, with such an installation of plates, channels with different temperatures alternate with each other.
Heat exchanger plates
Guides, located at the top and bottom, are fixed on the fixed plate and the rack, after which they are placed on a movable plate and connected to the plate. Plates (movable and fixed) are fastened with studs. If the heat exchangers are single-pass, then all its fittings are located on a fixed plate.
Each of the plates has a seal (gasket), the material for which is heat-resistant rubber. The gasket helps to seal the connections and directs the flow of fluids into the channels intended for them. The corresponding calculations are carried out to determine how many plates are needed, what profile and size. This takes into account the flow of media, its properties (chemical, physical), the temperature program and the permissible pressure loss on the cold and hot sides.
Thanks to this design, the heat exchange surfaces in the folding plate heat exchangers are arranged most efficiently, and the dimensions of the units themselves are minimized.
